Registration: Username. Usernames should be made easy to remember as staff members may need to PM you and dont always just click on your character name. Please make sure that your username is the FIRST NAME of the character you are registering. If it is not, we will ask you to delete your account and re-register it in the proper name. If you refuse to delete it, we will delete it for you.
Character - Account Ratio. It's a huge pain in the butt to switch between accounts all the time, but it doesnt look good if you have one account with several characters meant for that account. These characters are kinda like people and each of them has a name and membergroup so register one character per account. This way, people dont get confused when you're writing up threads.
Species/Gender Ratio. When making a character, we need all our ratios to be even. If you're making a character, be sure to check the ratios and make one in a membergroup we dont have many of and in a gender we dont have many of, so as to keep it balanced. Also, for every girl character you make, you must make a guy character.
Codes and Forms. Staff members make codes and forms for whatever they need on their site in a certain manner. Just like them, we have codes and forms for certain things and we do NOT appreciate them being tampered with. Do not change our codes, forms or anything else on the site that you did not make yourself. You can add whatever colors you want to the text YOU write but do not change anything we do. We worked hard on them and it is rude to do anything that we didnt do to them.
"Work In Progress". As fellow role players, the staff here at NLG do recognize that there are days when applications cannot be done in a specific time frame, so we have no time frame for them. Sometimes applications take a while, so please, if your application is not finished, put "[WIP]" in the title.
"Done". Okay, there are a few things that really annoy us staff members, and this is one of them. Do NOT put "Done" in the title of your application. If you do, we will PM you and give you one chance to take it out. If you do not take it out within the timeframe that we give you in said PM, we will automatically deny the application and you will have to deal with us yourself.
Characters and Posting: Character Limit. Like a lot of sites, we DO have a character limit. This is because in sites we've been on before, we have seen people who make too many characters and then dont post for half of them. So, our character limit here is 3. Only ONE of those three can be a canon character. If you can feel like you can handle another character after your three are made, you may PM an admin. We will determine whether or not you are okay to have another character. Please, do not harrass us if we do not give you permission, though. Refer to Species/Gender Ratio Rule in Registration.
Names. Please, no Gary's or Mary-Sues. We expect names to be unique to each character. So make up some fun name but dont make it too outrageous. We will not allow more than three characters with each name so remember to check the claims and make sure no one else has the name.
Posting In Character. Do not post IC unless your application has been accepted. IC posts that are posted before that character's bio is accepted will be deleted and you will be kicked off the site.
Play-By's and Face Claims. Face claims must look the age of the character you are making. Which means, if you're making a seventeen year old, dont use someone like Jude Law as a play-by. Make sure the play-by you choose is reasonably close in age to the character you are making. Staff has the right to deny your application if you do not follow this rule.
Applying. When you make a character, please make sure that everything that needs to be done with this character is done before you start another. This means, finishing the application, having it accepted, doing ALL your claims and posting at least ONCE in site. All of these things MUST be done before you can start a new character. End of story.
Templates. Templates are not required on most role play sites. And they arent required here, but we do suggest you use them. They make the site look pretty and sometimes it may be easier to read the text on them than just on the site. If you need help finding a template, ask a staff member and we'll send you to a site that's good for them!
Sex Scenes. Yes, we do realize that real life does involve sex, but role play doesnt in this site. We follow PBS TOS, therefore you cannot post every single unnecessary detail of your characters sex lives. Skip it, black out and move on with the thread.
God-Modding/Flaming/Power-Playing/Bunnying. If you dont know what any of this is, then you probably dont do it. If you do do it and you dont know what it is, we will talk to you about it. If you KNOW what it is, DO NOT DO IT. Simple as that.
Double-Posting. Keep a posting order. Its understandable if you need one character in a thread more than the others, but try to keep to an order.
Be Literate. We - as staff - are required to be grammar natzis. Sometimes our spelling and grammar isnt always on the dot, but when you mispell or do something wrong in a post every single line then it isnt acceptable.
Word Limit. Like most sites, we do have a 300 word limit here. We can understand if you're having a bad day and can barely get through 250. However, we are always nagging at you to post. If you CONSTANTLY dont meet the requirement, we have a right to give you at least one warning before we take precautions. Do not write a 250 post when the person you're posting with posts over 800. Try to always match the number of words the other player is writing.
Third Person, Past Tense. This is the prefered writing method in the chat. If your role play partners are okay iwth it, you can post in first person or present tense. Make sure you clear it with them though. There may be problems if this rule isnt followed.
Activity: Active Posting. This is a big thing in NLG. A lot of the time, we see sites with really low posting activity because everyone doesnt post until last minute to save their characters in an activity check or everyone is in the IC boxes. NLG will BAN all members who do not keep up activity from the IC Box, so keep it up.
Posting Numbers. At NLG, we expect EVERYONE to post at least once every three days. This means at the end of the week, members will have made roughly 6 posts in the last seven days. If this cannot be followed to the T, you MUST PM an admin with a reason. This minimum includes AIM/CELL/FB/EMAIL posts and such. It DISCLUDES IC Games.
Activity Checks. Once every month, there will be an activity check that we admins will make up. If you're not posting or staying active with EVERY character you have, they will be deemed inactive. And we WILL be checking when you post in the check, so make sure that when you post in it to save a character, that character is ACTIVE.
Canons. Canons are very important here and are also highly desirable. If you dont have the time to take a canon on and to be active with them, then DONT take one.
In Character Chat and In Character Roleplay: Accepted! Like when you're making in character posts, the IC chat boxes are places that requires your character to have an ACCEPTED application. The ICC is like a chat network on the internet, like any other chat network would be in real life. Your characters sign in and our of their "account". In the ICR, its basically like a one-liner version of a thread except its first-person and past tense.
Sign In, Sign Out. Again, it is like a perfectly normal chat. How you sign in and sign out is the italic code and you type "---- has signed in". With the ICR, all you do is put "here" in italics.
Use the Character Name. The character who signs in is the character that you are playing in the ICC or ICR. Stick to the personality of the character and STAY IN CHARACTER.
Out of Character. Out of character posts are allowed, but dont make them too often. When you're talking in OOC in the ICC/ICR, put your post in parenthesis.
Pictures. Characters have pictures of themselves. If you put the full url in the email/url box, the image will appear. Please make it 100x100 or 200x200. Make sure it is an icon image of your character.
Thoughts. Character thoughts arent all that special. When you make them, all you have to do is strike through the post. It means that other characters cant really see/hear anything that that person just said.
Sending "Private Messages". Sending PMs IC in the ICC is allowed. All you have to do is put it in italics saying "Private message to ----:" and then the message your character wishes to send. This way, only the character the message is sent to can "see" it.
Spam. Simply put, spamming is not allowed. C-box reads IP addresses and if there's a spammer, they will automatically be banned from BOTH the normal cbox and ICR/ICC box. Posting here without being accepted is also considered spamming.
This is NOT Happening. The stuff that goes on in the ICR does NOT happen in the site. However, the ICC is relevent to the site because its like you're talking over AIM/MSN or text as your character.
ICR/ICC Limit. The ICR and ICC have been used more than posting has been made in other sites. Therefore, there is a limit to it. Before you can post in the ICR/ICC you MUST make at least 2 in character posts in-site. This includes the two you already have to make every day. If this is not followed, there will be a limit to the TIME you can be in the ICC/ICR box. If those hours are disobeyed, the members who disobey them will be banned from the box until further notice.
Privilege. The ICC/ICR box IS a privilege. Big things should be posted in site. If its a late night and you cant quite get enough muse to post, then feel free to play that character in ICC or ICR a bit, but make sure that during the day you DID post. We will check.
Out of Character C-Box: RESPECT! If you want respect from other members, treat them with the same respect. No bullying or any of that crap.
Nothing Inappropriate. No one wants to see nude pictures at all on site of ANYTHING, so dont post it.
Chat Speak. We dont accept chat speak here. Things like "BBL" or "BRB" or "LOL" or "LMAO/LMFAO" or "WTF" or little things like that are perfectly okay but dnt go taklin liek dis.
Privacy. If you know someone in the site who wouldnt like something you want to say, dont say it. Simple as that. And if there is a huge problem between members in the site, dont post them in the c-box, pm an admin about it and we will deal with it.
Icon/Avatar. If you choose to use an icon or avatar in the main c-box, feel free to but make sure its PG-13.
Advertising. We do NOT accept advertising in the c-box. There is a board for that and if you advertise in this c-box we will delete your post.
Graphics: Avatars/Icons. It is required that you at the very least use an avatar/icon on your account. They MUST be 200x300 or smaller. Nothing bigger, nothing that will stretch the board. If you need help with graphics, ask an admin or member that is good with them.
Signatures. Signatures dont matter but if you use them, dont make them so they stretch the board. they cannot be more than 500x300.
Graphics for applications are specifically meant to be 400x230. Nothing more, nothing less. If ALL graphic rules do not fit the requirements - and we WILL be checking - your application will go unaccepted.
Miscellaneous: Staff. All staff have the right to edit/add or remove anything in the site rules or anything in the site itself, without any notice to members. This is so that the site is always in order and fair. We will post an announcement when these changes are made and you will be required ot look at them. By joining the site, you automatically agree to these rules so make sure to read them before you join.
Fun in the Site. Have fun, join the IC drama, plot and make all sorts of nasty plans! This is supposed to be a fun role play site dedicated to Supernatural, so make sure you follow the rules, have a little fun and join in the games!
